Ather Energy, a manufacturer of electric vehicles, has entered into a partnership with Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, a semiconductor company, to enhance the performance and reliability of its electric two-wheelers using advanced semiconductor technologies. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Seoul, South Korea, and focuses on the integration of semiconductor solutions in electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and safety systems.
The collaboration involves the use of Infineon’s microcontrollers, sensors, and power semiconductor technologies, including silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), to improve energy efficiency and system performance in Ather’s products. Both companies will jointly develop scalable solutions aimed at simplifying EV system design and reducing costs.
“Infineon’s leadership in semiconductors and system solutions brings deep expertise that aligns with our engineering-first approach. Our partnership with Infineon gives us access to advanced technologies that can help us improve key systems, from charging to safety and explore ways to reduce system complexity and cost,” said Swapnil Jain, Executive Director and CTO of Ather Energy.
“India is one of the fastest-growing EV markets globally, and electric two-wheelers are at the heart of this transformation. Our advanced SiC and GaN technologies will help drive energy-efficient and high-performance electric vehicles,” stated Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Automotive at Infineon.
The initiative will also explore innovations in sensing and safety to enhance vehicle performance and user experience.
