Mobil India, a producer of automotive and industrial lubricants, is nearing completion of its greenfield lubricant manufacturing facility at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s Isambe Industrial Area in Raigad. The plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of around 160 million liters.
According to the company, over 1,200 jobs were generated during the construction phase of the facility, which began in May 2023. The facility, with an estimated investment of INR 9 billion, is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
The plant will cater to demand across sectors including manufacturing, steel, power, mining, construction, and the automotive industry. The company also stated that it plans to source base stocks, additives, and all packaging materials from Indian suppliers.
India’s lubricant market, currently the third largest globally, is growing at an estimated compound annual growth rate of 4.4 percent. The country’s industrial lubricant market was valued at approximately USD 7.19 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach USD 10.14 billion by 2031.
Mobil India operates as part of ExxonMobil, focusing on the development and distribution of automotive and industrial lubricants across various sectors. The company manages sales, marketing, and technical support for a range of lubricant products within the Indian market.
