Taural India has established a new manufacturing facility under Eurotek Foundry Products India Pvt Ltd to produce furan resin and catalysts, which are essential inputs for aluminium casting in foundries. The plant is situated near Taural India’s existing operations in Maharashtra to enable logistical efficiency and support localized supply chains.

According to Bharat Gite, founder of Taural India, this backward integration is intended to strengthen the domestic availability of key materials used in aluminium casting, particularly for sectors such as defence, energy, and railways. The initiative aligns with broader shifts in the aluminium industry as Indian manufacturers prepare for changes in global trade policy.

The European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), scheduled for full implementation in 2026, will apply carbon tariffs on imports with high embedded emissions, including aluminium. In this context, securing domestic sources of casting inputs could offer Indian aluminium producers greater control over their supply chains and production standards.

Gite stated, “One critical gap we identified was the availability of high-quality furan resin and catalysts, which are essential components for foundries. And so, we decided to solve it.”

India currently produces 6 percent of the world’s aluminium, with around 80 percent of its sectoral emissions stemming from coal-based electricity, according to a 2024 report by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water. In contrast, 39 percent of global aluminium production is powered by renewable sources. As trade with the European Union exceeded USD 137 billion in the financial year 2023–24, the aluminium industry is under increasing pressure to reduce emissions and align with evolving regulatory standards.

The establishment of Eurotek Foundry Products India adds a new domestic supplier to the foundry ecosystem at a time when Indian producers are looking to adapt both their supply chains and production methods to meet international sustainability benchmarks.
