Nippon Seiki and Emerging Display Technologies Corporation (EDT) have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture in India for the manufacture of automotive Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT LCD) modules. The new entity, EDT-India Private Limited, will be based in Sri City Industrial Park, Andhra Pradesh, with construction of the manufacturing facility set to begin in summer 2025. Full-scale production is scheduled for 2027.

EDT-India will operate within the premises of NS Instruments India Private Ltd., a subsidiary of Nippon Seiki. The facility will be a two-story structure with a total floor area of approximately 2,500 square meters. The joint venture will have a capital investment of INR 300 million, with EDT holding an 81% ownership stake and Nippon Seiki holding 19%.

The companies have also entered into a Business Partnership and Capital Alliance Agreement to support the collaboration. This includes mutual shareholding and joint efforts in the development of integrated touch display solutions for the automotive market.

The new plant is intended to help both companies meet increasing market demand by combining EDT’s display technology expertise with Nippon Seiki’s experience in automotive instrument clusters. The facility will be EDT’s third TFT LCD module manufacturing plant, following locations in Taiwan and China, and the first outside East Asia.

Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, EDT specializes in the design and manufacture of display technologies. The company produces LCD products for various applications, including automotive displays.

Nippon Seiki is a Japan-based manufacturer of display systems and components primarily used in automotive instrument clusters. It operates subsidiaries in several regions, including India.
