Ferrit s.r.o, a manufacturer of mining machinery, has delivered two underground transport units (DVUs) to Hindustan Zinc, a mining company in India. The delivery is intended to support underground transport operations and improve mining efficiency and safety.

The DVUs are aimed at modernizing and optimizing underground mining processes. According to Ferrit, this delivery is part of ongoing industrial cooperation between companies in the Czech Republic and India in the mining sector.

In March 2025, Ferrit announced the shipping of four DVU utility vehicles to Hindustan Zinc. This shipment marks the company’s first delivery of specialized DVU utility vehicles to India and is a strategic step in expanding Ferrit’s presence in the region. The vehicles are designed specifically for Indian mines and feature right-hand drive versions. They are built to withstand extreme mining conditions, including heat, dust, and humidity.

The DVU utility vehicle features a robust two-axle design suitable for harsh underground environments. Its modular concept allows up to eight possible superstructures, enabling dependable transport of both people and materials. It is designed for a variety of purposes in challenging mining conditions, such as inspection, mobile depots, and customized material handling. It features a robust all-metal body, all-wheel drive, and safety features like a dual-circuit braking system.

Hindustan Zinc is part of Vedanta Resources Limited and is one of the world’s major mining companies, producing zinc, lead, and silver.

Ferrit also emphasized its focus on building long-term partnerships, participating in on-site handovers, business meetings, and receiving industry awards.

Ferrit, based in the Czech Republic, supplies machinery and transport systems for underground mining operations. The company is engaged in projects across several international markets.
