Detection Technology has expanded production at its service and manufacturing facility in Gurgaon (Gurugram), India, ramping up the output of detector cards. The initial focus was on end-assembly and final testing of detector boards for security X-ray imaging applications, with operations now scaled up to include thin-film transistor (TFT) flat panel detectors for industrial and medical X-ray imaging.
The company said the site will support customers in India with locally delivered services, reduced lead times, and cost efficiencies while maintaining its quality standards.
The opening ceremony was held at Cyberwalk Tech Park and attended by representatives from the company as well as the Ambassador of Finland to India, Kimmo Lähdevirta. The new site is operated by the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, DT Detection Technology India Private Ltd.
“We see significant long-term potential in India, and this new facility enables us to support customers on the ground with the same dedication that guides our global operations,” said Hannu Martola, President and CEO of Detection Technology. He stated that India’s ongoing development of healthcare and transportation infrastructure, as well as growth in manufacturing inspection, creates demand for advanced X-ray technologies. He added that the company’s portfolio of modular detector components will now also be produced under the Made in India label.
Arve Lukander, President of the EMEIA and Americas business units, said shipments of products manufactured at the new facility will begin immediately. He noted that the site will initially focus on end-assembly and final testing of detector boards for security X-ray imaging, with plans to scale up to the assembly of thin-film transistor flat panel detectors to meet industrial and medical imaging requirements. “We have invested in top-notch equipment and built a team of skilled professionals who are committed to delivering excellence,” said Lukander, adding that the site will also host product demonstrations for customers.
The Greater Delhi location provides connectivity to domestic and international markets, supporting the company’s strategy to enhance its presence in India.
The Gurgaon facility was originally opened in 2024 and is located in Cyberwalk Tech Park, IMT Manesar, part of the Delhi NCR area. It operates under the wholly owned subsidiary DT Detection Technology India Private Ltd. The facility is also equipped with product demonstration areas to assist customers in selecting detectors for their specific imaging applications.
