Valmet, a Finland-based technology company, has inaugurated its new Markal 3 facility in Pune on 24 September 2025. The expansion adds to the company’s existing operations in the city and is intended to strengthen its capabilities in serving the pulp, paper, and energy industries in India.
The new facility builds on Valmet’s earlier developments in the region, including a filter fabric manufacturing unit commissioned in 2021. The Markal 3 unit will focus on advanced manufacturing and service capabilities, complementing the company’s production and service centres in Pune.
The facility is designed to support delivery of technologies and lifecycle services for process industries. It also adds capacity to its operations that currently include filter fabric production for industries such as mining, chemicals, and pulp and paper.
