JBT Marel, a provider of food processing technology solutions, inaugurated its Global Production Center (GPC) in Pune, Maharashtra, on 23 September 2025. The facility has been established to expand production capabilities and support demand from the Indian and Asia-Pacific food processing markets.

The inauguration was attended by JBT Marel’s leadership team, including Brian Deck, CEO; Augusto Rizzolo, EVP and President, Regions and Integration; Bob Petrie, EVP & President Meat & Prepared Foods; and Jack Martin, EVP & Chief Supply Chain Officer. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a facility tour, and presentations on the technologies being deployed at the site.

“The Global Production Center in India is a proud milestone for us and reinforces our commitment to driving innovation in food processing,” said Augusto Rizzolo, EVP and President, Regions and Integration. “This facility not only brings global expertise closer to our customers in South Asia but also positions India as a key hub for advanced solutions that can serve the wider Asia region.”

India’s food processing industry contributes nearly 12 percent to the country’s manufacturing GDP and employs more than 8 million people. Rising demand for packaged and ready-to-eat foods, along with policy initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Food Processing, are shaping the sector’s growth.

JBT Marel stated that the Pune facility is strategically located to serve Indian companies and also function as an export base for the wider Asia region.

JBT Marel Corporation provides technology solutions for segments of the food and beverage industry. The company designs, manufactures, and services equipment, systems, and software to improve efficiency, food safety, quality, and maintenance while reducing waste and resource use across the supply chain.
