Hydropack (India) Pvt. Ltd., a manufacturer of hydraulic equipment, has inaugurated its 34th Bogie Testing Machine (BTM) at a railway workshop in West Bengal. The installation is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to provide hydraulic testing solutions to the Indian railway sector.

Bogie Testing Machines are used in railway workshops to simulate the load of a locomotive or coach body on a bogie. These systems are critical for assessing bogie condition, verifying assembly accuracy, and identifying potential mechanical issues before a vehicle returns to service. Each test cycle typically lasts 15–20 minutes, with measurement accuracy of ±1 mm.

Hydropack’s BTMs are equipped with a single-cylinder hydraulic system and pressure pad for synchronous loading. The machines are capable of simulating vertical, lateral, and longitudinal forces encountered during rail operations. They assess key parameters such as wheel load, air leakage, wheel diameter, axle distance, and spring stiffness. Additional capabilities include load versus deflection analysis, tilting angle detection, and spring profile measurement.

The equipment integrates Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems to enable automated data logging and report generation. Standard machines are built with a 50-tonne load capacity and 500 mm stroke, though specifications can be customized.

Hydropack provides installation, calibration, training, and maintenance services. The company emphasizes that its systems are domestically developed, which facilitates the availability of spare parts and lifecycle support.

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Belgaum, Karnataka, Hydropack (India) Pvt. Ltd. manufactures a range of hydraulic equipment, including presses, jacks, cylinders, power packs, and specialized railway systems. The company is ISO 9001-2015 certified and serves sectors such as railways, shipbuilding, mining, aerospace, and construction.
