Titagarh Rail Systems has signed a 99‑year lease for approximately 40 acres in Mouza Kotrung and Mouza Bhadrakali, Uttarpara, West Bengal—adjacent to its existing 34‑acre manufacturing complex—at a cost of INR 1,266.3 million.
The newly acquired land will enable the company to ramp up production of metro coaches, Vande Bharat trainsets, and specialised rolling stock for the Indian defence sector. The planned facility includes state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure for forming, testing, and commissioning. A dedicated test track will allow dynamic and running trials of trains before they enter passenger service.
The strategic proximity to its current facility is expected to support faster implementation and seamless operational integration. The setup is meant to ensure comprehensive performance and safety validation, including a test track of sufficient length for dynamic and running checks prior to passenger delivery.
In Q4 of FY 2024–25, Titagarh Rail reported a YoY decline in consolidated net profit of 18.36 percent to INR 644.5 million, alongside a roughly 4 percent dip in revenue. Following the lease news, shares on the BSE rose by about 0.17 percent, trading near INR 931.20.
Formerly known as Titagarh Wagons, Titagarh Rail Systems manufactures freight wagons, passenger trains, metro coaches, defence rolling stock, ship components, steel castings, and bridges. Its offerings serve both Indian and overseas markets.
