Maruti Suzuki India Limited has commenced operations of an in-plant railway siding at its Manesar, Haryana, manufacturing facility in collaboration with Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Limited (HORCL). The facility is designed with a dispatch capacity of 450,000 vehicles per year at full scale and spans 46 acres with a fully electrified 8.2-kilometre railway track.
The new siding is expected to help reduce approximately 175,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and save around 60 million litres of fuel annually. The railway siding will support dispatches to 380 cities across India and facilitate exports through ports such as Mundra and Pipavav.
This is Maruti Suzuki’s second in-plant railway siding after its Gujarat facility.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited is a manufacturer of passenger vehicles in India. The company produces hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and vans and has manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon, Manesar, and Gujarat.
