Menon Bearings Limited (MBL), a manufacturer of auto components, has received an international order from Allison Transmission, a U.S.-based company, for the supply of approximately 7.5 million pieces per year. The order, valued at around USD 3.73 million annually, covers the manufacturing and supply of thrust washers and bushings.
The agreement will be executed on a yearly basis as part of Menon Bearings’ ongoing business with Allison Transmission. The company confirmed that this order is not connected to any related party transactions and that the promoter group does not have any interest in Allison Transmission.
MBL is an Indian manufacturer of critical auto components headquartered in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. Its primary manufacturing plant is located in Gokul Shirgaon, Kolhapur. The broader Menon Group operates several manufacturing locations in and around Kolhapur, including facilities for Menon Pistons and Menon Piston Rings. Across the group, there are seven manufacturing locations contributing to the company’s production capabilities.
MBL operates fully integrated manufacturing facilities, which enable control over the entire production process. These facilities include alloy powder manufacturing, strip manufacturing using sintered, cast, cladded aluminium and tin, and babbit materials, along with continuous cast strip lines, LTC and tin flash plating lines, a tool room, an engine test bed, a material fatigue testing lab, and research and design units. The company’s operations also feature a quality system, SPM machine building, and aluminium technology processes such as induction melting, die making, casting, and machining.
The company manufactures a range of products that include bi-metal engine bearings, bushes, thrust washers, and aluminium die-casting components. These products serve a variety of applications in light and heavy automobile engines, two-wheeler engines, compressors for refrigerators and air conditioners, generators, stationary engines, marine engines, and agricultural equipment such as earthmovers and tillers. The company has also diversified into components for brakes, transmissions, axles, steering, and suspension systems.
Menon Bearings has a significant production capacity, manufacturing approximately 28 million bearings, 40 million bushes, and 8 million thrust washers annually. The company serves both the Original Equipment Market (OEM) and the Replacement Market (RM) in India and has received vendor recognition from major OEMs such as Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Maruti Udyog.
