Titagarh Rail Systems (TRSL) has entered the forged wheel manufacturing sector through a joint venture with Ramkrishna Forgings to address persistent supply disruptions that have impacted train and coach production in recent quarters. Production from the new facility is expected to stabilize starting June.

The joint venture has set up a manufacturing capacity of approximately 220,000 wheels per year. Of this, 80,000 wheels are under a guaranteed offtake agreement with Indian Railways. TRSL indicated that each wheel is priced at around INR 100,000, with a potential variation of plus or minus 10 percent.

According to TRSL officials, the company’s production target of 950 to 1,000 wagons per month has been constrained by limited wheelset availability, mainly due to supply bottlenecks at the Rail Wheel Factory in Bangalore, which is the designated supplier under railway board contracts.

Titagarh Rail Systems is engaged in the design, manufacture, supply, and servicing of passenger coaches, wagons, metro trains, and related railway components. The company operates across domestic and international markets.
