Ericsson, a telecommunications company, has started exporting its first antenna model manufactured in India, with commercial rollout beginning in June and international shipments scheduled from July. This marks an expansion of the company’s passive antenna manufacturing and engineering operations in India.
According to the company, more than 50 percent of the antenna components are locally sourced. Ericsson’s India operations now include sourcing, production, and engineering functions, with plans to scale up engineering capabilities to support both regional customization and global demand.
The antennas are designed to support evolving 5G network requirements and are being produced to meet Ericsson’s global performance and quality standards.
“We are committed to building an end-to-end antenna ecosystem in India—one that includes local sourcing, production, and engineering. This is a long-term investment in capability, talent, and technology. Our advanced passive antennas play a vital role in the evolution of 5G networks globally, and with our growing local presence, we can deliver future-ready solutions that meet the changing needs of our customers,” said Mikael Eriksson, Head of Ericsson Antenna System, Ericsson.
“India is rapidly emerging as a global hub for high-tech manufacturing and innovation. Ericsson’s investment in local production and engineering not only strengthens India’s telecom infrastructure but also contributes to building a resilient, future-ready ecosystem. Ericsson’s advanced ‘Made in India’ antennas will cater to both domestic and global demand,” said Nitin Bansal, Managing Director, Ericsson India.
The company also stated that the expansion will enable greater collaboration with Indian R&D partners and suppliers.
Headquartered in Sweden, Ericsson provides telecommunications infrastructure, cloud solutions, and managed services to network operators and enterprises globally.
