Ericsson Antenna System (EAS) will begin manufacturing passive antennas in India by June 2025, with plans to localize 100 percent of its antenna production for the Indian market. The manufacturing will be carried out in collaboration with VVDN Technologies and is part of Ericsson’s broader effort to expand its global supply footprint, which includes facilities in Mexico, Romania, and China.
The antennas produced in India will serve both domestic and international markets. Ericsson stated that the move aims to increase responsiveness to market demands and reduce time-to-market by establishing production closer to customer regions.
The India-based manufacturing initiative will be fully managed by Ericsson teams and supported by its global supplier network. The company emphasized that quality control and production standards will align with its international benchmarks.
“Expanding in India strengthens our ability to deliver cutting-edge technology at speed, closer to where our customers are building next-generation networks,” said Mikael Eriksson, Head of Ericsson Antenna System.
According to the company, the localized production is expected to contribute to the ongoing 5G network rollout in India and enhance Ericsson’s supply chain flexibility. Additionally, the production unit aims to support technology development that aligns with regional customer requirements.
“This expansion reflects our commitment and long-term investment in India’s industrial and digital future,” said Nitin Bansal, Managing Director, Ericsson India. “By localizing production and building out a robust ecosystem, Ericsson is ensuring faster deployment, increased responsiveness, and stronger protection for its customers against environmental or external disruptions.”
Ericsson has operated in India since 1903 and began local manufacturing of telecom equipment in 1994.
