Balkrishna Tyres (BKT), a tyre manufacturer with a strong focus on exports, has continued to scale up its manufacturing footprint and international presence. The company’s Bhuj facility, spanning approximately 3.5 million square feet, exports around 80% of its production, generating close to USD 1 billion annually. The facility currently employs around 5,000 workers. Pre-engineered building manufacturer Interarch has described the Bhuj site as the largest PEB structure in India.
BKT operates two manufacturing plants at Waluj MIDC in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The first was established in 1987, followed by a second plant inaugurated in 2021. Combined, the Waluj plants occupy 22 acres and represent an investment of INR 4.5 billion, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 metric tons.
Interarch Building Solutions Ltd., a supplier of pre-engineered building systems, has announced it secured an order exceeding INR 3 billion to execute the design, fabrication, and installation of steel structures for a tyre manufacturing facility for BKT in Gujarat. The upcoming facility is planned to span roughly 300,000 square meters (approximately 3 million square feet) and is scheduled for completion in the fiscal year 2025–26.
In addition to its manufacturing operations, BKT has been active in sponsorship arrangements across sports globally. Since 2014, BKT has sponsored Monster Jam, a motorsport event involving monster trucks. In July 2018, it acquired naming rights for Italy’s Serie B football league, rebranded as Serie BKT under a three-year agreement. A similar sponsorship agreement was signed in January 2020 with the French Ligue 2, naming it Ligue 2 BKT, extended through 2028.
BKT also entered a three-year agreement in 2022 as the northern hemisphere title sponsor of the United Rugby Championship. In cricket, BKT sponsored the Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2023 Indian Premier League. Additionally, BKT became the title sponsor of EuroCup Basketball for a three-year term.
