Simple Energy, a Bengaluru-based electric scooter manufacturer, has announced the commercial launch of heavy rare earth-free motors for electric vehicles. The motors, developed with an alternative compound-based architecture, are being produced at the company’s 200,000 sq. ft. facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

The new design removes the need for heavy rare earth magnets while maintaining performance and torque. “This technology proves that high performance can be achieved without compromising sustainability or strategic independence,” said Suhas Rajkumar, CEO and co-founder of Simple Energy.

Alongside the motor launch, Simple Energy is expanding its retail and service presence. It currently operates 42 stores across India and plans to increase the number to 100 by December 2025.

The development follows a year in which India’s EV sector recorded sales of over 1 million units in FY25, supported by increasing consumer demand and policy measures.

Simple Energy, founded in Bengaluru, designs and manufactures electric two-wheelers. Its operations include research, development, and production facilities, with a focus on scaling EV adoption through product innovation and an expanding retail network.
