Sindok India Private Limited, the subsidiary of South Korea-based Sindok Co. Limited, has opened its new manufacturing plant in Chakan, Maharashtra. The facility adds local production capability to the company’s existing engineering and design operations in Pune and extends its presence within India’s automotive and electric vehicle manufacturing corridor.
The new unit is located in the Chakan industrial zone, a major centre for automotive and component production. The plant will support fabrication, assembly and pre-dispatch testing of welding automation systems, fixtures and body-in-white (BIW) assembly equipment. The investment positions the company to meet growing demand for locally manufactured automation solutions from domestic vehicle manufacturers.
Sindok India’s development has been guided by a phased expansion plan outlined at the time of its establishment. The initial phase in 2019 focused on setting up the design office in Pune and creating a local point of contact for customers. The subsequent phase in 2020 centred on expanding engineering capabilities through a strengthened design division, the introduction of a simulation team and the addition of a sub-assembly line. The roadmap identified 2022 for further scale-up, including space for assembly and measurement activities and the introduction of a BIW line in India. The period leading up to 2025 was positioned as the consolidation stage, during which the subsidiary’s design, simulation and on-ground assembly functions were expected to mature into a fully integrated operation.
According to the parent company’s audited financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024, Sindok Co. Limited reported revenue of KRW 53.44 billion and net profit of KRW 2.85 billion. Total assets stood at KRW 45.76 billion, with equity of KRW 18.08 billion. Related-party disclosures show that Sindok India recorded purchases of KRW 851.30 million from the parent during the period and reported outstanding payables of KRW 566.91 million and receivables of KRW 158.54 million at the end of the financial year.
Sindok Co. Limited was established in 2000 in Seongju-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and specialises in welding automation systems, BIW assembly equipment and electric vehicle battery-housing solutions. The company operates manufacturing and R&D facilities in Seongju, Daegu and Ansan, and manages overseas operations in China and India. Sindok India Private Limited oversees engineering, project execution and customer support for the local market. The opening of the Chakan plant marks a significant step in expanding its manufacturing capability within India’s automotive supply chain.
