Talbros Automotive Components Limited, a manufacturer of gaskets, heat shields, forgings, suspension systems and rubber products, has approved the formation of a joint venture with Lohum Cleantech Private Limited to produce recovered carbon black and devulcanized rubber. The new entity, Lohum Talbros Carbon Private Limited, is scheduled to begin commercial operations from July 2026.

The joint venture will introduce low ash recovered carbon black using proprietary processing improvements and will manufacture devulcanized rubber for reuse in natural and synthetic rubber applications. The partners have set an initial equity funding requirement of INR 200 million for the first year. Of this, Talbros will contribute INR 99.5 million, equivalent to a 49 percent stake. The structure includes a five-year lock-in period from incorporation along with rights of first refusal and tag-along provisions.

Market assessments referenced by the partners indicate an addressable opportunity of about USD 1.8 billion for recovered carbon black, representing roughly 2.5 million tonnes. The potential market for devulcanized rubber is estimated at about USD 3.5 billion or approximately 4.2 million tonnes. Industry estimates place compound annual growth for recovered carbon black at about thirty-five percent, while devulcanized rubber is projected to grow at about ten percent.

“We are delighted to announce a new joint venture, Lohum Talbros Carbon Pvt. Ltd., a strategic step aligned with our long-term vision of expanding capabilities and strengthening our global footprint,” said Anuj Talwar, Jt. Managing Director of Talbros Automotive Components Limited. He said the collaboration brings together Talbros’ customer network and manufacturing capabilities with Lohum’s process technology and materials expertise.

The partners expect the venture to support supply requirements for automotive and industrial users seeking recycled and circular materials. The staged funding approach and defined governance mechanisms are intended to manage risks and align long-term objectives.

Talbros operates 11 manufacturing facilities across Haryana, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra, along with a materials division in Gurgaon and an R&D technology centre in Faridabad. The company supplies automotive manufacturers and aftermarket distributors in domestic and international markets.
