Luxium Solutions, a developer of scintillation materials, radiation detectors and precision-optics components, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility and corporate office at Aerospace Park in Bengaluru. The 6-acre site will support manufacturing and solutions delivery for nuclear physics, radiation detection and security applications for domestic and international customers.

The Bengaluru unit is designed on lean manufacturing principles and incorporates technologies focused on safety and environmental protection. The facility has been established with provisions for future expansion as the company grows its engineering and production capabilities in India.

“Luxium Solutions global team and the PE ownership led by SK Capital and Edgewater Capital Partners have shown immense faith in Indian engineering skills by transferring cutting edge technologies which will help in servicing domestic and global markets,” stated Narayana Prasad, Managing Director, Luxium Solutions Pvt Ltd.

The inauguration event was attended by members of the company’s global leadership team, customers, government officials, vendors, employees and their families.

Luxium develops materials and components used to detect ionising radiation and to guide light in high-precision optical systems. Its portfolio includes scintillation materials that convert radiation into light flashes, complete radiation detector assemblies, industrial sapphire and garnet substrates, and related optical components. These products are used in medical imaging, nuclear research, security screening and industrial non-destructive testing.

The company’s scintillation portfolio spans inorganic crystal scintillators such as sodium iodide doped with thallium, lanthanum bromide, LYSO, cesium iodide, cadmium tungstate and various garnet and oxide crystals, as well as organic scintillators including plastic and liquid forms. These materials are manufactured from high-purity halide salts, rare-earth oxides and heavy-metal oxides through controlled melting, crystal-growth or polymerisation processes to ensure uniformity in optical clarity, light output and response to radiation.

Radiation detector assemblies integrate these scintillators with photodetectors, reflectors, housings and electronics, enabling their use in applications ranging from handheld survey meters and portal monitors to CT scanners and high-energy physics experiments. In addition, Luxium produces sapphire and garnet substrates that provide mechanical strength, thermal stability and optical precision for lasers, photonics and power-electronics systems.

Luxium Solutions, headquartered in Hiram, Ohio, operates manufacturing sites in the United States, France and India, supplying customers in the nuclear, medical, security, aerospace and industrial sectors.
