IndianOil Total Private Limited, a joint venture of Indian Oil Corporation Limited and TotalEnergies Marketing Services S.A.S, has inaugurated a greenfield bitumen derivatives plant in Gummidipoondi near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The facility expands the company’s manufacturing footprint in southern India and is expected to support demand from regional highway and infrastructure projects.
The new plant will produce polymer modified bitumen, crumb rubber modified bitumen, nano-modified bitumen and bitumen emulsions. These products are used to enhance the durability and performance of road surfaces, particularly for high-traffic corridors and expressways. The plant incorporates automated systems and global safety practices to ensure consistency and efficiency in production.
The Chennai facility follows its first manufacturing unit in Jodhpur, which began operations at the start of the decade. The expansion is positioned as part of a broader scale-up of bitumen derivatives capacity across the country. “Together we continue to build stronger roads and stronger partnerships in India,” said Sang Ratnam, Country Chair – India for TotalEnergies Gas and Power Projects India Private Limited.
IndianOil Total Private Limited manufactures specialty bitumen products for road construction and infrastructure applications and supplies to government and private sector projects across India.
