Sagar Defence Engineering, a defence technology firm, inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Pune on 5 December dedicated to the production of uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) in partnership with Liquid Robotics, a Boeing company. The facility will support the co-development and co-production of maritime systems intended to strengthen India’s undersea domain awareness.

Liquid Robotics’ chief executive Shane Goodenough attended the inauguration, which was conducted by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff. The plant will focus on building advanced naval systems and technologies, forming part of ongoing collaboration between Sagar Defence and Liquid Robotics to develop Wave Glider capabilities.

“This plant opening is a proud milestone for Sagar Defence and for India’s defence ecosystem. It reflects our commitment to Make in India by building advanced maritime capability locally, and by partnering with Liquid Robotics we are positioning India as a hub for next generation maritime innovation,” said Capt. Nikunj Parashar, Founder, Sagar Defence.

Liquid Robotics stated that it aims to continue expanding its cooperation with Sagar Defence in delivering undersea domain awareness technologies.

Sagar Defence Engineering is engaged in the design and manufacture of autonomous and remotely operated maritime systems for defence and commercial applications.
