Trelleborg is developing a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Haripura, Savli, in the Vadodara district of Gujarat. The project, currently in the design and engineering phase, represents a significant expansion of the company’s Marine and Infrastructure business area in India.
The planned facility will function as a polymer engineering and manufacturing hub, focusing on critical marine equipment. The production capabilities will cover marine fenders, docking and mooring systems, and heavy-duty polymer solutions used in port infrastructure. This initiative aims to localize the manufacturing of high-specification marine systems that were historically imported or assembled, thereby reducing lead times for infrastructure projects.
VMS Consultants has been appointed to provide comprehensive design, architectural, and engineering consultancy services for the plant. The facility is being designed to focus on advanced polymer processing, safety, and scalability in line with global manufacturing standards. The site is intended to complement the company’s existing Global Engineering Center in Ahmedabad, allowing for local manufacturing capabilities to operate adjacent to the engineering design hub.
The facility is positioned to cater to the domestic port and maritime sector, including requirements for Sagarmala projects. Additionally, the plant is expected to serve export markets in the Indian Ocean and Middle East regions. This development is part of a wider investment by the company in India, which also includes the expansion of its Sealing Solutions facility in Bengaluru.
Trelleborg is an engineering group focused on polymer technology, operating across business areas that include Marine and Infrastructure as well as Sealing Solutions.
