ifm India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Germany-headquartered ifm group that supplies sensor technology and automation solutions for industrial applications, has shifted its head office from Kolhapur to Pune and relocated its warehouse operations to Chakan, marking a structural reorganisation aimed at aligning its administrative and logistics functions closer to key industrial clusters in western India. The move places the company’s corporate and supply-chain operations nearer to a large concentration of automotive, engineering, and manufacturing customers.
The relocation is intended to strengthen customer proximity, improve response times, and enhance operational flexibility. The new set-up is designed to support scalable growth while enabling faster collaboration with customers and partners across the region.
The Pune head office will house central management, sales, and support teams, while the Chakan facility will serve as a dedicated logistics and warehouse centre. Chakan is one of Maharashtra’s major industrial zones, hosting a wide range of automotive original equipment manufacturers, tier suppliers, and industrial companies. By positioning its warehouse operations in this location, ifm India aims to streamline material flow and reduce delivery lead times.
Consolidating operations in and around Pune is expected to improve coordination between commercial and logistics teams. The new infrastructure has been planned to accommodate future expansion as business volumes increase and customer requirements evolve.
Commenting on the development, Torsten Schwermann, Vice President – Country Group Management, said, “The inauguration of our new head office and our new logistics centre in Pune marks an important milestone for ifm India and reflects our continued commitment to growth, efficiency, and excellence.” He added that the facilities are intended to support improved customer experience through upgraded infrastructure and more streamlined processes.
Schwermann also acknowledged the role of employees who relocated from Kolhapur to Pune as part of the transition. “This transition clearly reflects their loyalty, dedication, and belief in the vision of ifm India,” he said, adding that the move was enabled by the combined efforts of internal teams and external partners.
ifm India operates as part of the Germany-headquartered ifm group, which supplies sensor technology and automation solutions for industrial applications. In India, the group operates through ifm electronic India Private Limited, which manages sales, marketing, logistics, and application support, and ifm engineering Private Limited, which focuses on software development and engineering work supporting global automation and Industrial Internet of Things programmes.
