Wipro Limited announced on 04 February 2026 that it has joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Industrial Liaison Program (MIT ILP), a platform that connects industry participants with MIT’s faculty, research infrastructure, and innovation ecosystem to address emerging technology challenges. The development marks an expansion of Wipro’s engagement with academic research aimed at accelerating applied innovation across multiple advanced technology domains.

The MIT Industrial Liaison Program is structured to enable participating companies to leverage MIT’s research capabilities and collaborate on solutions relevant to near- and long-term technological needs. Through its membership, Wipro will engage with MIT’s faculty, researchers, and startup ecosystem to advance work across five strategic themes identified by the company.

These focus areas include agentic artificial intelligence and autonomous enterprises, robotics with embodied artificial intelligence, quantum computing, digital ledger technologies, and cyber resilience. The company stated that engagement under the program is intended to support research and innovation activities aligned with these themes, with an emphasis on translating research outcomes into practical business applications.

“The MIT ILP membership helps us remain ahead of the curve in researching frontier technology solutions and positions us to deliver measurable business impact,” said Sandhya Arun, Chief Technology Officer at Wipro Limited, in the press release. The statement highlighted the company’s intent to deepen its exposure to emerging technologies through structured academic and research collaboration.

MIT Corporate Relations also commented on the expanded engagement. “We are pleased to expand our footprint with Wipro globally through the MIT Industrial Liaison Program,” said Gayathri Srinivasan, Executive Director of MIT Corporate Relations. “This expanded engagement will enable meaningful exchange and shared progress within MIT’s innovation ecosystem,” the statement added.

The Industrial Liaison Program serves as MIT’s primary interface for structured collaboration between the institute and industry participants, facilitating access to research insights, faculty expertise, and innovation networks. Wipro’s participation places it among global companies seeking to align corporate research priorities with academic research initiatives through the program.
