Dellner Group began construction of a new production facility in Chennai on 2 March 2026, expanding its manufacturing operations in India. The facility is being developed in Kuthambakkam near Chennai, adjacent to the company’s existing plant in the region.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the project site and included a traditional Pooja ceremony. Manvinderjit Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Dellner Group India, attended the event along with members of the company’s India management team.

The new plant will expand Dellner’s existing operations in Chennai and accommodate two additional legal entities relocating to the region. The facility will manufacture equipment for rail, defence, industrial, and energy sectors and is intended to serve as a strategic hub for the company’s operations in India and other markets.

The 90,000 sq ft facility is designed to increase the company’s local production capacity and integrate multiple business units at a single location. It will expand production of automatic and semi-permanent couplers, gangways, and dampers for rail systems, and will include a test bench for gangway systems.

The site will also manufacture high-performance braking systems and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) components for defence and industrial applications. Production will include vibration control components, rubber-to-metal bonded parts, and suspension systems such as air springs and anti-roll bars used in rolling stock.

Industrial braking and hydraulic equipment will also be produced at the new facility following the relocation of Dellner Bubenzer India and Dellner Hydratech operations. Manufacturing activities will include industrial brakes, hydraulic power units, and “Stopping, Turning, and Locking” systems used in sectors including cranes, container handling, wind energy, and offshore applications.

The Chennai site is expected to support both domestic and export markets, supplying components for projects in Europe and Southeast Asia. The expansion is also intended to support engineering and design work in India, building on the Dellner India Engineering Team established in 2016.

The facility is planned to incorporate solar power infrastructure and waste reduction measures as part of its development. The expansion also supports the company’s diversification into marine and offshore applications, including propulsion braking systems and dampers for shipbuilding and renewable energy sectors.

Dellner Group is a Sweden-based manufacturer of components and systems used in rail transport and industrial applications, including couplers, gangways, braking systems, and hydraulic equipment. The company operates production and service facilities across multiple international markets.
