Henkel announced the launch of a Customer Application Center in Bengaluru to support India’s expanding electronics manufacturing sector through localised application engineering, testing, and validation capabilities. The facility is intended to enable collaboration between Henkel’s technical teams and customers to co-develop advanced adhesive and thermal management solutions for electronics production.

The centre represents a significant application engineering investment in the India Middle East and Africa (IMEA) region and is designed to address the lack of local infrastructure for advanced materials testing and validation. The company stated that the facility will allow manufacturers to develop, qualify, and scale materials solutions domestically rather than relying on overseas facilities.

“India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem is at an inflection point, and Bengaluru is at the center of it,” said S. Sunil Kumar, Country President – India, Henkel. “What manufacturers across our focus sectors increasingly need is not just world-class materials, but a local partner who can co-develop, test, and validate those materials under real production conditions, and help them move from concept to market faster. That is precisely what this center is designed to do.”

The facility is designed to serve telecom and 5G infrastructure, data centres and AI computing, power electronics and electric vehicle systems, industrial automation, and medical electronics. Its capabilities include thermal management testing, precision dispensing systems, electrical characterisation tools, and rapid-cure chambers, supporting processes from prototyping through to production readiness.

India’s electronics manufacturing sector has grown nearly six-fold over the past decade, driven by expansion in data centres, artificial intelligence computing, 5G and fibre networks, electric vehicle charging systems, industrial automation, and medical devices. These sectors depend on specialised adhesives, thermal management materials, and protective coatings, and require faster local validation and engineering support.

The Bengaluru facility spans 5,000 square feet, including approximately 2,400 square feet of laboratory and testing space. Henkel stated that around 60 to 65 percent of the investment has been allocated to laboratory and testing equipment, while 20 to 25 percent has been directed towards customer co-development infrastructure.

Henkel AG & Co. KGaA is a Germany-based company engaged in adhesive technologies, beauty care, and laundry and home care products.
