The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai inaugurated a metal additive manufacturing facility at its campus on 2 July 2025. The facility is intended to support research, consultancy, and small-batch production of metal components for industrial applications.

Inaugurated by Prof. Usha Natesan, Director, NITTTR Chennai, the new centre is equipped with a 3D printing system specifically designed for metal-based prototyping, customisation, and low-volume production across various sectors. According to NITTTR Chennai, it will also serve as a platform for research and development activities, as well as training programs targeting industry professionals, researchers, and students.

The setup is open to collaboration with industry partners for product development, skill development programs, and technical consultancy in the field of metal additive manufacturing.

NITTTR Chennai is a government institution focused on training technical educators and supporting institutions through curriculum development, educational planning, and applied research.
