Exel Composites has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, together with its joint venture partner Kineco Limited. The plant, which was finalised in May 2024, is equipped with machinery and layouts designed for high-volume carbon fibre component production.
The Banda facility manufactures composites with pultrusion technology and is optimised for the wind power industry in India and abroad. “Everyone here is very excited about this new factory and the good start we have had. A special thanks to the Kineco Exel Composites India team. Without their technical expertise and dedication, this wouldn’t have been possible,” said Kari Loukola, EVP Industrial Solutions.
In addition to wind energy applications, the site will also produce composite solutions for sectors such as buildings and infrastructure.
In September 2024, Exel Composites and KECI won the bidding process in India to supply pultruded carbon planks for wind turbine spar caps for Vestas Wind Systems A/S, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2025. The products are to be manufactured with pultrusion in KECI’s Goa factory. Both parties have begun the qualification process according to Vestas’ specifications, after which KECI is expected to become a qualified supplier of carbon flats for Vestas globally.
Exel Composites designs and manufactures composite solutions using technologies such as pultrusion and pull-winding. The company operates globally with factories in Europe, North America, and Asia, supplying industries including wind power, transportation, building, and infrastructure.
