Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL) announced that its subsidiary, Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Private Limited (JTRFPL), has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the supply of 5,376 wheelsets for the Vande Bharat train project. The order, valued at approximately INR 2.15 billion, was issued on 19 August 2025 and includes 2,688 motor wheelsets and 2,688 trailer wheelsets.

The LOI is a strong recognition of our capability in delivering world-class rail components. With this engagement, we reaffirm our commitment to support the country’s high-speed rail infrastructure and contribute towards a modern, self-reliant, and future-ready railway system,” said Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of JWL.
According to the company, this order strengthens its position in the rail components market for passenger and high-speed trains. JWL is also establishing a production facility in Odisha, backed by an investment of INR 25 billion. The facility is expected to increase capacity from 20,000 forged wheels and axles annually to 100,000 forged wheelsets per year by 2027.
Jupiter Wagons Limited manufactures products for freight wagons, locomotives, passenger coach accessories, braking systems, commercial vehicles, ISO marine containers, couplers, bogies, wheels, axles, and electric light commercial vehicles. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Indore, Jabalpur, Aurangabad, and Bangalore, and has partnerships with Tatravagonka a.s. (Slovakia), DAKO-CZ (Czech Republic), Kovis d.o.o. (Slovenia), and Talleres Alegria s.a. (Spain). Its client base includes Indian Railways, American Railroads, the Indian Ministry of Defence, Tata Motors, GE, and Volvo Eicher Motors.
