Collins Aerospace, a business unit of RTX, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility at the KIADB Aerospace Park in Bengaluru with an investment of USD 100 million. The new Collins India Operations Center (CIOC) spans 26 acres and enhances the company’s capability to produce advanced aerospace products for global markets.

The CIOC will initially manufacture aircraft seats, lighting and cargo systems, temperature sensors, communication and navigation systems, water solutions, and evacuation slides. It is equipped with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing and robotics. The new facility forms part of RTX’s broader USD 250 million investment plan for India, of which USD 100 million has been allocated to the engineering and test development centre and USD 50 million to Pratt & Whitney’s India engineering centre.

Collins Aerospace currently operates two manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru — the Bengaluru Operations Plant (Hoodi Site 1) and the Collins India Operations Center (Site 4) at KIADB Aerospace Park. Site 1 (internal designation), originally established under Goodrich Aerospace before its integration into Collins Aerospace, manufactures evacuation systems and other safety-critical aircraft components for global customers.

“The Collins India Operations Center will drive operations and manufacturing for more than 70 Collins products, enhancing worldwide service transformation and delivering operational excellence,” said Roy Gullickson, senior vice president of operations at Collins Aerospace. He added that the site has incremental capacity to accommodate future expansion and customer needs.

The Bengaluru facility is equipped with an Industry 4.0 Building Management System aimed at improving production speed and quality. It has achieved LEED Silver and Indian Green Building Council Silver certifications, highlighting its sustainability standards.

Collins Aerospace has been manufacturing and investing in India for nearly three decades, with a workforce of more than 6,500 employees across engineering, digital, manufacturing, operations and supply chain functions. The company also announced earlier in 2025 a new Engineering Development and Test Center in Bengaluru to expand its local research and development capabilities.

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, provides integrated and intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defence sectors and employs around 80,000 people globally. RTX, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, reported sales of more than USD 80 billion in 2024 and operates through its three major businesses — Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon.
