Samvardhana Motherson International Limited announced on 5 December 2025 that it has entered into an agreement, through its joint venture Samvardhana Motherson Hamakyorex Engineered Logistics Limited (SAMRX), to establish a dedicated roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) terminal at Dighi Port in Maharashtra.
The development aims to support finished vehicle logistics for export and import operations. According to a press release issued by Samvardhana Motherson International Limited, the terminal will be created in partnership with Dighi Port Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ).
SAMRX will invest in the terminal in a phased manner to enable an annual handling capacity of approximately 200,000 cars, with the potential for expansion. The facility will include yard management, artificial-intelligence-based pre-delivery inspection technologies, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, customs clearance and stevedoring services. SAMRX is a provider of finished vehicle logistics, and the initiative is intended to vertically integrate its services and provide comprehensive logistics capabilities.
APSEZ’s subsidiary Dighi Port Limited was described as a strategic port on India’s west coast with multimodal logistics capabilities. The partnership seeks to support growth in finished vehicle logistics demand and streamline operations for automotive manufacturers.
“This partnership with APSEZ is a significant step forward in our mission to provide integrated, world-class logistics solutions to the automotive industry. By developing this RoRo terminal at Dighi Port, we are enhancing our service portfolio and also creating a strategic asset that will boost efficiency and reduce logistics costs for our OEM partners,” said Arjun Kochhar, CEO, Motherson Logistics Solutions Division.
“Our partnership with Motherson at Dighi Port marks a significant step toward redefining automotive logistics in India. By combining APSEZ’s integrated infrastructure capabilities with Motherson’s expertise, we are creating a seamless, resilient network for vehicle movement across the country,” said Ashwani Gupta, CEO and whole-time director, Adani Ports and SEZ.
