Kilburn Engineering Limited has entered into a binding term sheet to form a joint venture company with East End Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to strengthen its mechanical site execution capabilities, with an initial focus on eastern India. The proposed joint venture will be incorporated in Kolkata and will jointly bid for site-intensive mechanical projects across the region, expanding Kilburn’s technical and execution footprint beyond its existing project delivery model.
The joint venture will focus on core mechanical activities including piping fabrication and erection, structural fabrication and erection, equipment erection, and pre-commissioning support. These capabilities are aimed at servicing process industries such as oil and gas, fertilisers, petrochemicals, and steel, where large-scale on-site fabrication and installation form a critical part of project execution.
Kilburn has traditionally relied on external contractors for mechanical site fabrication and erection works. Through the joint venture, the company is moving towards establishing a dedicated execution platform, enabling it to directly participate in bidding for site-based mechanical projects. This approach is intended to improve technical oversight across fabrication, erection, and commissioning stages, while strengthening control over quality, safety, schedules, and cost management.
“This Joint Venture represents a significant milestone in Kilburn’s strategic expansion into site execution. By partnering with East End Technologies, we are combining complementary strengths to create a robust platform for executing complex site projects across India,” said Ranjit Lala, Managing Director of Kilburn Engineering Limited.
East End Technologies brings established manufacturing and site execution experience to the partnership. Founded in 1999, the company is engaged in the design and manufacture of specialised furnace-related equipment for chemical plants and refineries, supported by a large manufacturing facility in eastern India. Its portfolio also includes extensive experience in mechanical plant construction, covering blast furnaces for steel plants, syngas plants for petrochemical applications, and sulphur recovery units for refineries.
“Eastern India represents an important growth region for us. This Joint Venture allows us to combine strong local execution expertise with Kilburn’s mechanical engineering capabilities, enabling a more competitive and reliable offering for customers seeking high-quality site-based mechanical works,” said Amritanshu Khaitan, Director, Kilburn Engineering Limited.
From a technical execution perspective, East End Technologies has completed more than 15,000 metric tonnes of structural and equipment erection and over 2 million inch-metres of pipeline fabrication and erection. These capabilities are expected to complement Kilburn’s mechanical engineering expertise, allowing the joint venture to offer integrated fabrication, erection, and pre-commissioning solutions for complex industrial projects.
The joint venture is positioned to enhance Kilburn’s ability to undertake mechanically intensive site projects in eastern India by combining in-house engineering with regional manufacturing and execution capacity. Over time, the platform is expected to support scalable execution of large industrial projects requiring coordinated fabrication, erection, and commissioning activities.
Kilburn Engineering Limited is an India-based engineering company engaged in mechanical equipment manufacturing and project execution for process industries, with capabilities spanning engineering design, fabrication, and on-site delivery.
