Huons Meditech Co., Ltd. inaugurated a local assembly production line for endoscope washer-disinfectors in Hyderabad, Telangana, marking the start of its entry into the Indian market through a Complete Knock Down (CKD) model. The facility has been established in partnership with Vasu Group and will assemble products for nationwide supply in India.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Huons Group Chairman Yoon Sung-tae, along with executives and employees from both companies. The company stated that the CKD-based production line will enable its endoscope washer-disinfectors to qualify for domestic manufacturing incentives in India.
Huons Meditech said it had entered into an agreement with Vasu Group in March of the previous year to advance its expansion into India and has since been exporting components for local assembly under the CKD model. Founded in 1985, Vasu Group is an Indian pharmaceutical and medical device distribution company that operates a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, a hub for the medical device industry.
The endoscope washer-disinfectors assembled under the CKD method will be supplied across India. Huons Meditech said the local production initiative is intended to enhance price competitiveness and strengthen brand recognition in the Indian market.
To support the rollout, engineers from Vasu Group visited Korea last month and completed CKD manufacturing and quality management training at Huons Meditech’s headquarters. The training covered technology transfer and the establishment of standardised quality systems. Huons Meditech executives also visited Vasu Group’s production facility in Hyderabad to inspect the CKD manufacturing line and conduct additional on-site training.
“This inauguration represents a significant starting point for mutual growth through strategic collaboration between the two companies. The launch of this CKD production line serves as the cornerstone of our localization strategy and will be a key pillar of Huons Meditech’s global expansion strategy this year,” said Ha Chang-woo, Chief Executive Officer of Huons Meditech.
