Oerlikon inaugurated an extension to its regrinding and forming tools operations in Ahmedabad. The development is aimed at strengthening local service capabilities to address increasing demand for tool reconditioning and coated tools in the western region of India.

The extension enhances the company’s ability to handle complex and high-volume requirements through expanded CNC regrinding capabilities. The facility also incorporates improvements in tool preparation processes aligned with Balzers coating standards, along with optimised workflows supported by dedicated infrastructure and skilled manpower.

The company stated that demand for reconditioning and physical vapour deposition (PVD)-coated tools has grown over the past 14 years, driven by factors such as cost efficiency, sustainability considerations, and shorter turnaround requirements. The expansion is intended to improve responsiveness to these customer needs while supporting extended tool life cycles through reuse.

The inauguration event was attended by members of the company’s leadership team, including Pravin Shirse, Country President for India and SEA Countries; Anand Golikere, Director Sales and Operations; Reza Jam, Category Manager BSPC/Procurement; and László Karikás, Global Supplier Quality.

Oerlikon’s upgraded facility will support its positioning as a provider of tool lifecycle services, integrating reconditioning, coating, and preparation processes within a single operational framework.
