Freudenberg Group, a Germany-based technology company, has inaugurated two new manufacturing facilities in Morinda, India, covering a combined area of 40,700 square meters. The facilities are operated by Freudenberg-NOK India Pvt. Ltd. and Vibracoustic India. This consolidation of operations, previously based in Basma and Mohali, is intended to improve production efficiency and support the company’s long-term growth in India.

Freudenberg has invested over €42 million in the Morinda site, marking its largest financial commitment in the country. The plants are equipped to serve both domestic and international markets, focusing on key sectors such as automotive and industrial manufacturing. The new facilities incorporate modernized equipment and optimized material flow systems.

At the inauguration, Freudenberg Group CEO Mohsen Sohi emphasized the strategic importance of the investment in enhancing the company’s global and local capabilities. The Morinda facilities will contribute to Freudenberg’s operational efficiency and product quality.

The plants also feature sustainable practices, including energy-efficient machinery and photovoltaic cells that generate 15% of the site’s energy needs. The facilities are designed with water-recharging stations to minimize environmental impact.

According to Sivasailam G, Managing Director at Freudenberg Performance Materials India and Director & CEO of Freudenberg Regional Corporate Center India, the new facilities will create approximately 200 new jobs, representing a 20% increase in the local workforce. The site will also serve as a global engineering hub, attracting talent from local universities, especially from Chandigarh.

The expansion comes as Freudenberg celebrates its 175th anniversary. The company operates across 40 market segments and employs 52,000 people in around 60 countries. Freudenberg reported sales of nearly €12 billion last year.
