HIMA Group has inaugurated its first facility in India as part of a multi-year expansion plan. The company, specializing in safety automation for industrial and railway applications, aims to deliver localized solutions to sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and rail. The facility was officially opened on November 21, marking a step in HIMA’s strategy to expand its presence in India.

According to a press release issued by the company, the facility will focus on providing digitalized safety solutions and operational technology (OT) security, aligning with India’s industrial needs. It will also serve as an export hub for regional safety automation projects.

The company plans to collaborate with local firms and institutions to develop workforce skills and drive innovation in safety technology. Partnerships with entities such as the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) are expected to support knowledge transfer and competency development in the field of safety automation.

HIMA CEO Jörg de la Motte stated that the India expansion is aimed at better serving local customers while fostering innovation and growth in the country’s industrial sectors. The company also plans to contribute to renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives as part of its sustainability efforts.

The new facility is part of HIMA’s broader efforts to address the growing demand for safety solutions in India. The company has been engaging with Indian businesses for the past two years, preparing for this operational launch.
