Agile Robots SE, a producer of robots that integrate artificial intelligence, has inaugurated a new robotic parts manufacturing plant at the Irungattukottai SIPCOT Industrial Park in Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. The plant involves an investment of INR 3 billion and was officially inaugurated on June 4 via video conference.

The plant will produce robotic machine parts that combine artificial intelligence and robotics. These components will serve industries including automotive, consumer electronics, and healthcare. This facility marks Agile Robots’ first major manufacturing entry into India and is expected to create over 300 high-skilled jobs.

Developed by AS Group as its flagship industrial property, the facility incorporates advanced construction and automation-ready features. The pre-engineered structure includes a 14-meter center height to support flexible production layouts, along with a sewage treatment plant (STP) for environmental sustainability, industrial-grade flooring, fire safety systems, energy-efficient lighting, and provision for climate-controlled environments.

Agile Robots has received substantial investment from global technology and growth investors. In 2021, the company raised USD 220 million in a Series C round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2. In 2020, the company raised USD 130 million, making it the most funded company in the intelligent robotics sector that year. Foxconn Industrial Internet also invested an additional USD 30 million in a separate strategic round.

The company operates manufacturing, R&D, and sales facilities across more than 15 sites worldwide, employing over 2,300 people globally as of 2025. In Germany, Agile Robots has its global headquarters and R&D center in Munich, a major production site in Kaufbeuren, and an R&D and production site in Gemmingen (BÄR Automation). In China, facilities are located in Beijing, Shenzhen, Kunshan, and Zhengzhou. In India, it maintains the new production site in Chennai.

Agile Robots offers AI-powered automation solutions for various sectors. Its product portfolio includes the Diana 7 robotic arm for sensitive tasks in manufacturing, Yu 5 Industrial cobot with AI-driven vision and force sensing, and the Agile Hand for delicate human-like manipulation. It also develops AMRs (autonomous mobile robots) in partnership with BÄR Automation and idealworks. The AgileCore software platform enables control, monitoring, and scaling of automation systems. Industries served include automotive, consumer electronics, healthcare, logistics, and research.
