SOL India Private Limited, a manufacturer of medical, industrial, pure and specialty gases, has inaugurated a new air separation plant at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, with an investment of INR 1.75 billion. The facility was inaugurated on 4 June 2025 via video conference. Construction of the plant began in July 2023.
The newly operational plant contributes to SOL India’s production of industrial and medical oxygen. According to the company, the investment is part of commitments made during the 2019 and 2024 editions of the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet. The facility has created 20 jobs.
SOL India Private Limited is a joint venture between Italy-based SOL S.p.A. and India’s SIG Gases. The company manufactures and supplies a wide range of gases, including oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, and nitrous oxide, along with various gas mixtures. Its products and services include gas production, supply systems, gas storage tanks, centralized gas distribution networks, and medical gas pipeline systems.
The Ranipet plant is designed to increase production capacity of liquid medical gas, industrial oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon, with applications across healthcare, semiconductor manufacturing, and industrial sectors. SOL India also supplies high-purity gases to organisations such as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Headquartered in Chennai, SOL India has manufacturing facilities in Tanjore and Ranipet. The company operates a helium transfill facility in South India. In 2021, SOL S.p.A. raised its stake in the company to 85 percent, resulting in a name change from SICGILSOL to SOL India Private Limited. In 2022, SOL S.p.A. expanded its India presence through a strategic partnership with Bhuruka Gases Limited, acquiring full ownership of Green ASU and a 51 percent stake in Bhoruka Specialty Gases.
