FLSmidth has opened a new manufacturing and service facility in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu. The site will initially support operations related to pneumatic conveying, PFISTER feeding and dosing systems, Ventomatic storage and dispatch solutions, electrical and automation systems, and will serve as a distribution center for pyro and grinding equipment spares.
The Arakkonam facility includes provisions for future expansion and will operate as part of FLSmidth’s global manufacturing network. It complements existing international sites in Italy, the Czech Republic (Brno), China, and a recently opened facility near Allentown, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In India, it supports the company’s consolidated operations in Bawal.
FLSmidth provides engineering, equipment, and services to the mining and cement industries. The company’s Indian headquarters and major project center are located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, with additional offices in Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. FLSmidth India also operates three manufacturing units in Arakkonam, Sriperumbudur, and Bawal.
In the cement sector, FLSmidth India delivers complete production lines, equipment, and automation systems. Recent projects include a contract for a 3,000 tonnes-per-day cement plant in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, for Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation Limited (TANCEM), executed in partnership with Larsen & Toubro. The scope includes crushing, pyro-processing systems, advanced mills, coolers, packing, and automation. The company is consolidating its manufacturing operations near its Chennai headquarters to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
FLSmidth India is also introducing technologies such as the FUELFLEX Pyrolyzer, which enables up to 100 percent fossil fuel replacement in the calciner—contributing to reduced carbon dioxide emissions and lower fuel costs. The company also supports digital transformation and process optimization through service agreements such as PlantLine, which cover automation and digital services across multiple client sites.
In the mining sector, FLSmidth India provides complete flowsheet solutions, including recent orders for High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR). These systems are used in copper, gold, coal, iron ore, and fertilizer industries, and are known for their energy efficiency. The company also supplies spare parts, individual equipment, and full operation and maintenance services.
FLSmidth India employs more than 4,000 people and operates a research and development center in Chennai. The company has been active in India since 1904 and is organized into four divisions: Cement, Minerals, Product Companies, and Customer Services. Its cement operations are headed by Manoj Taneja, who has led recent strategic initiatives, including manufacturing consolidation and enhanced client engagement.
