Festo, a manufacturer of automation machinery, has launched a new manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, focused on producing advanced pneumatic automation components. The Germany-based company has invested INR 5 billion in the facility, which spans over 75 acres and is intended to support both domestic and international markets.
The new plant is expected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, with plans to scale operations and expand the workforce in the future. The project aligns with Festo’s broader strategy to enhance regionalisation by expanding its global R&D, production, logistics, and supply chain operations. This includes reducing transport distances and emissions by adopting a more localised production model.
“This plant not only strengthens our local manufacturing capabilities but also reflects our vision of sustainable growth and technological leadership for the next 100 years,” said Thomas Böck, chairman of the management board of Festo.
Festo India’s greenfield pneumatic components facility in Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu, began operations in May 2025. The first phase of the plant is expected to be formally inaugurated by June 2025. The project, which was committed during the Global Investors Meet 2024, involves an investment of INR 5.2 billion and is projected to create over 2,000 jobs once fully operational.
Headquartered in Germany, Festo provides pneumatic and electrical automation technology to around 300,000 customers across more than 35 industries. In 2024, the company reported a turnover of approximately EUR 3.45 billion.
