Festo India has commenced supplies against customer orders from its new manufacturing facility in Bairamangalam. Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu from May 5, 2025. The company has informed its existing customers to create a new vendor code for the new Krishnagiri faclility. The first phase of the new facility is expected to be formally opened by June 2025.
The plant will initially focus on the production of mechanical components from the company’s pneumatic and process automation portfolio, such as cylinders and related parts, and is intended to serve both domestic and export markets. The company has also secured land for a second phase of development, indicating plans for future expansion. There are currently no plans to manufacture electronic components at this site.
Festo has stated that automation technologies produced in India will support various industries, including food and beverages, automotive, and electronics and light assembly—each contributing around 18 to 20 percent to the company’s global revenue. The electronics segment is expected to experience higher growth over the coming years, supported by rising local production of semiconductors and consumer electronics.
The company is working on software-defined hardware in future automation solutions and is working toward the development of open, flexible ecosystems to simplify integration with other systems. As part of its global R&D strategy, Festo is decentralising innovation efforts to be closer to emerging technology hubs, particularly in Asia.
Festo AG & Co. KG, a family-owned company based in Germany, develops pneumatic and electric automation technology for industrial and process applications. Established in 1925, the company is marking its 100th anniversary in 2025. In addition to manufacturing, Festo is active in technical training and education to support workforce development in automation.
Festo’s investment of INR 5.2 billion in the new plant was announced during the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024. Once fully operational it is expected to create 2000 jobs.
