BEML Ltd. has received “Self-Certification” status for its defence equipment from the Department of Defence Production (DDP), Government of India. The certification, valid for three years, enables BEML to certify the quality of its products independently, eliminating the need for third-party inspections on 842 products in its defence equipment portfolio.

The self-certification status was conferred at an event held at BEML’s headquarters, with RA Govardhana, ADGQA (V&EE) from HQ DQAV, presenting the certification to Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML. According to a press release issued by the company, the certification reflects BEML’s ability to maintain a Supplier Rating above 90% and adherence to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System standards.

BEML manufactures a range of defence equipment, including missile launchers, Armoured Recovery & Repair Vehicles, and High Mobility All-Terrain Vehicles for radar and communication. The company reports a high level of indigenisation in platforms such as Pontoon Bridge Systems, Aircraft Towing Tractors, and BMP Transmissions.

With operations dating back to the 1980s, BEML has exported over 1,200 units of defence equipment to 68 countries.
