Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Limited has announced the commencement of operations at its new oxygen plant located in Bevinahalli Village, Koppal district, Karnataka. The facility, designed with a production capacity of 3,000 Nm³ per hour using VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology, became operational on November 15, 2024.
The oxygen produced at the plant will be used to enhance the hot blast in the company’s mini blast furnaces. This process aims to increase the use of pulverized coal injection, thereby reducing coke consumption and lowering overall manufacturing costs.
The installation of the plant involved a capital expenditure of approximately ₹37 crore, which was financed primarily through internal accruals, with additional support from bank borrowings.
