Vesuvius has inaugurated alumina-silica and basic monolithic refractory manufacturing facilities in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, adding 250,000 tonnes of annual production capacity. These plants will serve the iron and steel industries, producing materials essential for manufacturing processes.

The development follows the commissioning of Vesuvius’s Mould Flux plant earlier this year and is part of the company’s broader investment strategy in India. According to the company, the facilities are equipped with energy-efficient systems and waste reduction technologies to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining a focus on sustainability.

Patrick Andre, CEO of the Vesuvius Group, highlighted India as a key market for the company’s growth. Mohinder Rajput, Managing Director of Vesuvius India Limited, stated that the new facilities align with the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.

The company attributed its decision to expand to the growing demand for refractory solutions in the region, which these facilities aim to address by reducing costs and introducing new technologies tailored to the local market.
