The Odisha government has approved 20 industrial projects totaling Rs 1.36 lakh crore in investments. The projects, which span sectors such as steel, chemicals, aluminium, green energy, and cement, are expected to generate over 74,350 jobs, according to a press release issued by the state government.
These initiatives will be distributed across 10 districts, including Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Khurda, Sambalpur, and Ganjam. The approvals were granted by the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Among the approved projects, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (Tata Steel) received approval for expanding its integrated steel plant capacity in Jajpur district from 0.98 MTPA to 9.50 MTPA at an investment of Rs 61,769 crore.
Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (a central public sector undertaking) plans to establish an ammonium nitrate manufacturing unit using high-ash coal in Jharsuguda district, with an investment of Rs 11,782 crore.
Hindalco Industries Ltd received clearance to expand its aluminium smelting capacity in Sambalpur district from 0.38 MTPA to 0.68 MTPA at a cost of Rs 10,645 crore.
Additionally, Odisha has attracted investments worth over Rs 1.80 lakh crore in the last six months, spanning 73 industrial projects, and is projected to generate employment for over 1.1 lakh people.
