Calderys, a manufacturer of refractory products and solutions, commissioned the first production line at its CAPES facility in Odisha, India, dedicated to acidic monolithic refractories, with sales already underway. The company also announced the addition of a new tap-hole clay production line on an additional five acres, expanding the facility’s overall manufacturing capacity.
The CAPES facility—Calderys Plant in East and South India—is designed to house six production lines upon completion, producing acidic and basic monolithics, acidic and basic bricks, ready-shaped products, steel casting fluxes, and tap-hole clays. This expansion aims to support Indian industries with locally produced refractory materials and steel casting fluxes.
The acidic monolithic refractories line has been operational since May 2025 and features advanced mixers, blenders, automatic batching, and precision-controlled processes. These products serve customers across India and are designed for use in high-temperature and corrosive environments.
The new tap-hole clay line will produce high-plasticity clay suited for furnace operations, ensuring consistent tapping performance and long-term reliability. This line complements the five other production lines under development at the site.
“The site has progressed ahead of schedule since breaking ground, bringing us closer to delivering advanced refractory solutions that meet the evolving demands of today’s industries. As part of this momentum, the basic monolithics line—the second of six planned—will be operational in August,” added Ish Mohan Garg, Senior Vice President for the Asia Pacific region.
Located near major steel plants in Odisha, the CAPES facility aims to reduce supply chain lead times and improve customer support for iron and steel producers in the region.
Calderys specializes in manufacturing refractory products and solutions, including monolithics, bricks, and steel casting fluxes. The company focuses on materials designed to withstand high temperatures and corrosive industrial environments, serving steelmaking and other heavy industries.
