Tata Motors and Tata International have inaugurated a vehicle scrapping facility in Pune, designed to process up to 21,000 end-of-life vehicles annually. Operated by Tata International Vehicle Applications (TIVA), the facility, named Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect), is part of a network of such centers across India.

The Pune facility can dismantle passenger and commercial vehicles from all brands and utilizes advanced recycling methods. It is equipped with zones for dismantling components such as batteries, tyres, oils, and gases in compliance with environmentally responsible disposal standards.

The initiative aligns with India’s vehicle scrappage policy and aims to promote sustainability through organized recycling. Speaking at the launch, Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable practices and resource recovery from end-of-life vehicles.

Rajeev Batra, CEO of TIVA, emphasized the facility’s role in addressing the growing demand for regulated vehicle recycling, citing its 21,000-vehicle annual capacity.

This facility is part of a broader network of Re.Wi.Re centers in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR. All centers are fully digitalized, offering paperless operations.

Tata International Vehicle Applications specializes in tailored vehicle solutions for sectors such as logistics, defense, and public services, while Tata Motors continues to expand its operations in commercial and electric vehicle segments globally.

The new facility represents a step towards strengthening vehicle lifecycle management and fostering environmentally sustainable practices in India.
