Dixon Technologies has entered into a partnership with Taiwan-based Compal Electronics to manufacture Google Pixel smartphones in India. The production will take place at Dixon’s subsidiary, Padget Electronics, located in Noida.

This collaboration positions Dixon as the second contract manufacturer for Google in India, alongside Foxconn subsidiary Wow Tech, which produces Pixel devices in Chennai. Additionally, the agreement aligns with the growing focus on electronics manufacturing in India, a market projected to expand significantly in the coming years.

The company is expected to produce approximately 100,000 Pixel smartphones per month, with an estimated 25-30% of the output allocated for export markets. The initiative follows Google’s recent move to shift Pixel production to India, transitioning from its previous manufacturing bases in Vietnam and China.

While Dixon has not disclosed the financial terms of the deal, the announcement underscores efforts to bolster domestic production capabilities and meet increasing demand in the Indian premium smartphone segment. Currently, Google’s Pixel smartphones hold less than 1% of the Indian market share, but the company aims to triple this figure by 2025 through enhanced production and the incorporation of generative AI technologies in its devices.

Compal Electronics, a long-term manufacturing partner for Google, brings its expertise to this venture, further integrating India into the global supply chain for high-end electronics.
