Foxconn plans to double its iPhone production in India by the end of 2025 as part of Apple’s ongoing manufacturing expansion in the country. The company expects to produce between 25 million and 30 million iPhones in India during the year, compared to approximately 12 million in 2024.
According to sources, Foxconn has been conducting testing operations at its Bengaluru facility over the last few months to assess production scalability and quality standards. “The trial runs are the first phase… to see if the plant is able to produce the phones at the scale required and without any compromise on Apple’s stringent quality standards,” a source said.
Apple has been shifting some of its manufacturing to India as part of efforts to diversify its supply chain beyond China. Reports indicate that Apple aims to manufacture 25% of its total iPhones in India by 2028.
While Apple does not disclose production figures, estimates from market research firms suggest variations in India’s contribution to global iPhone manufacturing. One estimate placed India’s share at 7% in 2023, while another analysis projected it between 12% and 14% that year.
Foxconn’s expansion aligns with India’s broader push to increase local manufacturing, with government initiatives aimed at attracting investments in the sector.
